5 things to consider before starting a social media advertising campaign?

Perhaps you may have noticed that although you are posting on Instagram, fewer of your followers are as engaged as you'd like... and naturally you’d like to reach more people for free…

The quality of engaging posted content is moving at an extraordinary pace… making what was once easy and free... a touch more complicated...

Of course we would say advertising is worth considering, so here are a few things to consider before diving-in…

Here are the 5 things to consider before advertising?

  1. What do you want to achieve with your Instagram ads?

Increase your company/brand awareness OR send more of your audience to your website/profile page OR generate more enquiries OR more visits to your showroom/workshop? This first step is important and key to your success.

  2. Knowing who you want to reach and are they active on social media?

Before launching an advertising campaign, it is important to know if your audience is active on Instagram? For example, a lot of our clients want to target architects, interior designers and design-interested consumers - Instagram (and Pinterest) are the ideal platforms. Facebook can also be useful to reach affluent consumers in a different demographic.

  3. How much do you need to budget?

Advertising on Instagram can start as low as £10 a day, making it affordable and if done correctly - cost-effective.

    To help compare: £10 may give you 2,000+ ‘highly-targeted’ people/ads a day… or 60,000+ a month.

We advocate advertising every day. This can sound expensive - however if you have a monthly budget in mind;  just divide it by 30 to give you a daily spend.

  4. How do I create advertising that will attract the customers/followers I actually want?

Your ads need to be visually appealing and engaging. You may probably already have quality images, possibly some mobile video footage, and some words that you know will interest you customers. Using software products like Canva, can help you quickly create the different ad placement formats: Feed, Stories, Carousels, or Reels to make a more effective campaign.

Meta Ads Manager will help you with the set up of a highly targeted campaign with some useful (and some not useful) suggestions.

Remember: Instagram wants and needs engaging ads for a good user experience… and still rewards good advertising with better prices.

  5. Knowing what to check if my ads are engaging?

You can set up easy to follow metrics to understand what is happening on Instagram and use something like Google Analytics to check your website activity. Both together can give you a clear idea if your ads are engaging and if the people clicking through to your website are interested…

Adding these two things together will give you a better understanding of what is working. What is important is that you should start to feel something different is happening within the first month... often with our clients and the campaigns we run.... within the first 7 - 10 days.
